The Top Ten - week ending 30 June 2018

It's Saturday, and boy, is it hot here!!!

With the combined heat and humidity, Toronto is feeling what 43C is like, all weekend! Yikes! Time to hit the beach for a cooling down, or stay indoors and chill to the sounds of This is Lounge.....in between the World Cup games, that is. If your country is still in the running, good luck to you.

Well, the Top Ten this week has seen some minor shuffling. Paul Blackford finally crawls into the top spot this week, knockimg Stephanie Sante down a couple of positions, allowing Jojo Effect to slide into second.

The chilled jazz sounds of The Warheads are back with one of there many new tracks. The seasonally titled Summer Reading evokes quiet days by the beach, enjoying a good book as the surf crashes the sand close by.

Maretimo Records' Cocogroove is also back with a Jazzy James edit of their Taxi Soul track. A nice Summer groove to chill to.

So tune in 24/7 to hear these wonderful artists and so much more. We're here whenever you need us.

Thanks for listening. Thanks for the support.

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 23 June 2018

Hello, my fellow loungers! The weekend is finally upon us once again. And Summer has now officially begun!

Is everyone struck with World Cup fever? I've noticed a few related posts in Facebook, as everyone cheers for their respective countries. Good luck to all of you, and remember.... all your teams are winners just having been able to qualify. Be proud no matter what!

I assume that in between the games, you are all tuned into This is Lounge, to lower your blood pressure. Those games can be pretty intense.

Well, if you aren't, then you're missing out on some great new music. Stephanie Sante and Paul Blackford have held fast in the top two positions for another week, as Jojo Effect ft. Iain Mackenzie rolls into number three.

Below that trifecta of tunes, we find the Steve Gadd Band and Jessica Lauren's beautiful tracks coming up behind.

Moving up from Bubbling Under, Madbliss and their chillhop sound slip onto the tenth position, bringing a more urban chill to the selection.

Thank you so much for listening. Keep us tuned in for those Summer garden parties or patio gettogethers.

Thanks for your votes at www.thisislounge.com, and don't forget.....

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 16 June 2018

Welcome to Saturday!

My fellow loungers, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I'm sure that a lot of you have been doing Spring garden preparations, planting flowers, etc. and making your spaces beautiful.

I hope that you are tuning in and enjoying the sounds we have to offer - some chill, some jazz....some popular, some indie, some classic..... a mixed bag to keep it interesting.

This week on The Top Ten, the wonderful chill of Stephanie Sante reaching number one this week, knocking down Alex Cortiz a couple of notches to the third position. The cool sounds of Soundcloud discovery, Paul Blackford, squeezes in between at number two. With the Steve Gadd Band and Jojo Effect hot on their heels, your votes help choose who's favoured to go up and down.

This week also sees, not one, but two new tracks making the move up from Bubbling Under. The downtempo sounds of Mahoroba and ex-Matt Bianco singer, Basia, both are ready for the prime time of the Top Ten. Now its up to you whether the go far. Cast your vote for these, or the others, at www.thisislounge.com.

Added a couple of tracks from another Soundcloud find, chillhop artist Audiobot. One is a new release, the other (an older tune) has been added to the general playlist. So stay tuned to hear both!

Also, stay supportive. The station thanks you, and the artists thank you.

Before I sign off, let me pass aong a technical note. Apple has been slowly deleting stations from it's Internet Radio section of iTunes, and unfortunately, This is Lounge has been removed from their listings. Rumour has it that to promote Apple Music, the stations (which they have no control over) are in competition with the streaming service. Good news is, that iTunes was not the number one player used by you listeners. I'm just sad that I cannot play it through my Apple TV anymore.

Oh well, there are numerous directories and sites to tune in from, so don't give up looking.

Till next week....

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 9 June 2018

Happy Saturday! Happy Weekend!

Loving this weather! The morning temperature here is almost at that point where breakfast on the patio is comfortable. There's nothing like enjoying your morning coffee amongst the sweet chirping of the birds, and the warm sun as it rises to greet the day.

With so much sadness in the news this week (i.e. Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade), it's so nice to escape in a gentler way - listening to the relaxing chill of This is Lounge. Our prayers are with their families.

Our Top Ten this week is looking pretty awesome. Dutch master Alex Cortiz, retains his place atop the chart, followed closely by the Colorado chill of Stephanie Sante, and the man from NYC, Phigroa.

I'd like to give a shoutout to Bruce Beuge for sharing some great new music, primed for Summer listening. Stay tuned, as some of those sounds will be sneaking onto the station very soon. By the way, be sure to check out Bruce's Mixcloud page - Bruce's Smooth Jazz Kitchen, where he cooks up a great selection of jazz mixes and podcasts, from simmering to spicy.

To all my listeners, thanks for the support. As you are well aware, there is no shortage of programming in the smooth jazz, chillout, and ambient genres.  Grabbing your ear for any amount of time is humbly accepted and appreciated.

So, enjoy your weekend. Enjoy the music, and....

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 2 June 2018

Welcome back, my fellow loungers!

Happy weekend!

I'm sure that for most of you, you are enjoying almost Summer-like temperatures and sunshine! This is our season, everyone, so embrace the sun.

Well, we have some changes in the chart this week, as Alex Cortiz has slipped into the number one spot this week. The subdued, almost tribal beat of The Wondrous World of 6 AM has really captured the ears of all of us her at the station. I think we can all relate to that feeling of the world asleep outside while your awake.

Of course, that makes Phigroa dip to number two, and Stephanie Sante move into the third position. It seems that the biggest jump this week is from Paul Blackford! The Bento Box Beat has really proven popular. Sounds great! Be sure to support him, and the other artists by downloading from your favourite digital website.

We have a new entry this week, making it's appearance on the chart after "bubbling under" for awhile is Jessica Lauren. The B-side to her new single, Amalfi, certainly deserves its place among our other tracks.

So before I sign off, let me thank you for listening - put us on in the garden, on the patio, wherever you like to lounge. We're here 24/7, whenever you want us.

Again, happy weekend!

Stay chilled.
