The Top Ten - week ending 28 July 2018

Welcome to Saturday, my fellow loungers!

I hope you are all enjoying your Summer. Those of you with families will be enjoying the beaches and kid-friendly excursions. Those of you who are single or childless will still be enjoying the beaches, but also the adults-only adventures. Whomever you are, enjoy it while you can. Autumn arrives faster than you think!

I am anticipating the arrival of my daughter from Italy for her Summer vacation soon. Playing tourist in my home province will be a lot of fun. Can't wait!

That's not to say that the music will be ignored! This is Lounge will be pumping through the speakers on my patio, and in my kitchen, and my living room....all for a relaxing soundtrack to Summer. I hope that you are enjoying the same.

Speaking of the music, let's get right down to this week's Top Ten chart....

Congrats to the Steve Gadd Band for reaching the top this week. The accomplished jazz drummer/percussionist's Norma's Girl is a beautiful addition to he station and it's sound.

Coming up into the second spot is the chillhop sound of Madbliss, followed by Jojo Effect after having been knocked out of the first position.

Clelia Felix made a nice jump this week into number four, thanks to those fans of a cool bossa nova beat.

Jumping into the fray from Bubbling Under is another chillhop artist, Audiobot. Discovered on Soundcloud, their track Lost begins its way up the chart.

Thanks for tuning in. I realize that Summer is not the best time for listening to internet radio, but I urge you to tune us in over the wifi and keep our numbers up.

Thanks for supporting the artists and the station. Until next week, please.....

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 21 July 2018

Welcome back, my fellow loungers!

Saturday is once again upon us, as the nice weather continues to grip our city.

Lots to do....are you a tourist somewhere, perhaps catching up on your emails or Facebook somewhere?

Despite the urge to put away all our electronic toys and social media, its nice to see a lot of you taking the sounds of the station with you - in the backyard, on the patio, at the cafe....just grabbing that wifi wherever you can. Thank you for the word of mouth, as new listeners come online all the time.

iTunes may not be available anymore, but you find us on a number of directories, including Radioguide FM, Radio.net, and StationZilla to name a few. There are more to be added, but they will be there for you.

Lots of movement on the chart this week. Your votes on the website are certainly playing a part in all of this! Let's see how things are this week, shall we?

Well, Jojo Effect remains at number one, as jazz percussionist, Steve Gadd and his band move into number two, and the chillhop sounds of Madbliss come in at number three.

Clelia Felix made a big leap this week, landing at number six, and the Summer sounds of Michael Franks jumps in from Bubbling Under to land at number nine.

If you've been listening, there's been some great new music bubbling under from The Warheads and Cocogroove, amongst the other new music.

Thanks for the support, and please tune us in anytime. We're here for you. The artists are here for you. Thanks for letting This is Lounge be a soundtrack to your Summer!

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 14 July 2018

If you're anywhere near a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and you're reading this....go back outside and read this!!!! It's Summer out there!

Happy Saturday, everyone! As the World Cup winds down to it's finale, and we try to escape the stressful things happening in the world, and the weather remains a constant "fabulous".....lets all continue to take the time to chill.

Work is nearing completion on my patio/ backyard piazza, so I can rest a little before accepting visitors in a few weeks.

Hey, congrats to Jojo Effect and Iain Mackenzie as More or Less  moves into number one this week!!!! The chillhop sounds of Madbliss slides in behind at number two, and the Steve Gadd Band holds still at number three.

Clelia Felix also bumped up a couple of spots, as she begins her ascent up the chart.

Thanks for tuning in, everyone. I know it's hard to be inside listening to us when it's so nice and sunny outside. But if you find an internet hot spot or free internet in a cafe, please take advantage and tune in. It is so much appreciated.

If you are reading this early enough, don't forget that today at 6:00/18:00h Toronto time, it's our weekly sneak preview of Koop Kooper's Cocktail Nation Radio Show. Take a visit to a time when Lounge had a bit of a different meaning.

Thanks for taking the time to visit this blog and the website, and casting your vote for favourite song!

Enjoy your weekend! Enjoy the station! Enjoy life!

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 7 July 2018

Welcome to the weekend, my fellow loungers!

As our extended heatwave has dissipated just in time for the weekend, we are left with a perfect 27C today. Ahhhh...a great day to enjoy a backyard BBQ or a sidewalk patio.

And thanks for tuning in. This is kind of the "low season" for internet radio, since everyone is out of wifi areas enjoying the beach or they're on vacation, so I can understand the small dip we're experiencing in listeners. Enjoy your Summer. We'll be here waiting for your return, when you need that fix of chill.

On to the Top Ten, we find that the first and second positions this week have remained static, with Paul Blackford and Jojo Effect staying put. (By the way, check out Paul's Soundcloud page for a new track he has just uploaded. The same goes for Peter Pearson, inspired by the sunshine, no doubt.)

Congrats to Clelia Felix, as her bossa-centric song Along The Coast jumps onto the chart. A very Summery sound, indeed.

Thanks for all the support, and please pass the word around about the station. I am most grateful.

Thanks for supporting the artists, as the money keeps the music flowing.

Until next week,

Stay chilled.
