The Top Ten - week ending 27 May 2017

Happy Saturday!

Thanks to a long weekend last week, the four-day work week here seemed to last longer than it actually was. But, no matter, as the weekend is finally here! Temp is still kind of cool here, but it's great for working on the gardens, and listening to some great music.

Thanks so much for tuning in. Shoutout to Phigroa, who is just loving the mix, and has become a full time listener as well as an artist on the station. Thanks, Phil! By the way, his track Distant Voices remains in the middle of the chart.

Finlly making it to the top, Riccardo Eberspacher has surpassed Sambox, who has now slipped to number two. The chilled jazz of DJ Maretimo and Vladi Strecker rounds out the top three.

Great to see Stephanie Sante begin her ascent. Her wonderful downtempo tune, Can You Hear Me, has been a fave around the station.

Finally making the leap from Bubbling Under, Chaotix's The Shift adds a nice dose of indie chillhop to the mix. Speaking of Bubbling Under, Alex Cortiz's track, Zooming In, is itching to break through. Your votes at www.thisislounge.com can help him, and any other artist here, move up or down the chart.

We have some new music getting ready to bubble under, so stay tuned.

Thanks for supporting the station and the artists.

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 20 May 2017

Happy Saturday!

Well, this weekend is extra special for me. Not only is it a long weekend here in Canada, but it is also my birthday today! Alas, the celebrations do not last all weekend. With the warmer weather, now is the time to work on the oasis in my yard so that when the temperature hits 30C, I can relax and chill with some family and friends, and great music and a cold cerveza.

I'd like to send a thanks to everyone for their kind words and support. The Comments section at www.thisislounge.com has been getting lots of work lately. It seems Phigroa has really taken a shine to the mix here at the station. I am humbled and thankful, Phil. Spread the word!

This week, it seems Blank & Jones were finally usurped by Sambox for the top spot, as Jasmin Sambac becomes our new number one! Congrats to Samuel, and all of you that voted him there.

We can't ignore Riccardo Eberspacher, as he places himself between the two of them in the number two position - just love that tango sound! DJ Maretimo with Vladi Strecker continue to inch up with the wonderful chilled jazz sounds of The Midnight Hour.

The bottom half of the chart ain't too shabby either, with a continuing "who's who" of jazz and chillout talent - Jazzy James Jr., Phigroa, Diana Krall, The Warheads, Mo'jardo, and Stephanie Sante! Wow! Oh, please allow me a special shoutout to Stephanie Sante, as she makes the jump this week from Bubbling Under. Her new album is a treat for the ears.

And Bubbling Under, along with Chaotix, is Zooming In, from famed Dutch artist Alex Cortiz. The title track from his new release features an eclectic mix of chill and dance tracks that is sure to please everyone.

As always, your support for these artists and the station must be applauded. Please use the links to purchase our artists music, or use one of the other top digital retailers.

To my fellow Canadian listeners, enjoy the long weekend!

Stay chilled!

The Top Ten - week ending 13 May 2017

The weekend has once again arrived. Spring, in many parts of the world, continues to arrive "kicking and screaming", as the Winter chill slowly dissipates.

Perhaps the power of positive thinking from all of us will "will" Spring's arrival completely.

But no matter the temperature and the sunshine, we always have music. The chilled vibe that we all favour is at least preparing us mentally for Spring. Heck, we're ready for Summer now, right?

What better mental image than that garnered from Blank & Jones' My Island. It continues to rule the roost this week atop the chart. Thanks to your votes and its fans here at the station, it shall ride us into the sunshine that is slowly arriving.

The two South American influenced tracks - Sambox's Jasmin Sambac and Riccardo Eberspacher's Luna Calante - have also become listener faves, as they hold positions two and three respectively.

The rest of the artists continue to enjoy a little movement as we welcome a new Warheads track into the list. Nice to see J.R's band back!

Thank you to all for your support of both the station and the artists, and "keep those cards and letters coming", as the saying goes. Love to hear from listeners. Head on over to the website, cast your vote, and leave a comment.

Have a great weekend!

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 6 May 2017

Welcome back, my fellow loungers!

Thanks for checking out the chart! As usual, its chockful of great new music!

First off, congratulations to Blank & Jones for reaching the summit. Yes, thanks to your votes and everyone here, the beautiful chilled sound of My Island is number one this week! What a perfect number one to start the month of May. Springtime is upon us, as visions of the beach bewitch us all. I, for one, can't wait to climb into my linens and soak up the sunshine.

Right behind the Milchbar Boys, we find Riccardo Eberspacher at number two. His homage to the Argentinian sound is hypnotic. Stay tuned to enjoy Luna Calante.

The Queen of Jazz, Diana Krall, comes hot on Riccardo's heels at number three. Cole Porter never sounded sexier, as Diana's laidback vocals give Night & Day what feels like a heroin mix of the classic American Songbook tune.

Phigroa continues to remain in the top half of the chart. The chillout/jazz sound of Distant Voices proves his cross-genre vibe hits the spot for all of you listeners. Be sure to check out the rest of his EP, if you like this one.

Strong contenders Sambox and Thievery Corporation, and the cool collaboration of DJ Maretimo and Vladi Strecker help to make this week's chart one of the best. And with the jump into the Top Ten happening from Jazzy James Jr.  (....a little jazz for my peeps... gotta love that intro!),  Sugar and Spice is itchin' to get to the top.

Lots of great sounds continue, all with a little help from you. Don't forget to cast your vote for your fave at www.thisislounge.com. Don't forget to support these and all the artists on the station. It is certainly appreciated.

And keep sending me those Comments! I love to hear from listeners. Are you a café playing the station? Or just listening while sunning yourself on your backyard patio? I'd love to hear from you.

Stay chill.
