The Top Ten - week ending 25 April 2015

Another week of Spring.....ahh. The hours of sunlight grow longer and longer each day.
Time to relax with some great New Releases.
Jamie still hangs on to number one, as Snowday moves into second spot with The Seventh String.
Minimal movement up and down, although we say goodbye to one of Diana Krall's tracks as another  moves up.
Jumping into the bottom slot from Bubbling Under is Jonathan Fritzen's Enchantment, a beautiful piece of chilled Smooth Jazz.

Thanks for listening. Enjoy.

Eliane Elias - The Making of "Made in Brazil"

The recent release from the lovely Eliane Elias has certainly not gone unnoticed here at This is Lounge. A labour of love, Eliane returns to her native Brazil for a beautiful collection of songs, accompanied by a group of topnotch musicians.

"Bubbling Under" on the Top Ten list this week, This is Lounge is proud to add Vocé to our playlist.

The Top Ten - week ending 18 April 2015

Well, it's been an exciting week, what with the news of the station going up on iTunes and all. (Yahoo!)
This week has also seen Diana Krall bubbling under with her cover of 10cc's classic, I'm Not In Love. This week, it joins the official list at number ten.
Joining Diana is Joyce Elaine Yuille, a wonderful singer that has worked with a coterie of artists, including Paolo Conte, Randy Crawford, Donna Summer, and Laura Pausini. Joining the Top Ten this week is the title track from her new album, released this past week.
Jamie Cullum and Blank and Jones flipflop between the top two spots, as Snowday moves up to third.
Other newcomers, Riccardo Eberspacher and Cj RcM also gain some ground as Clive Button and Diana Krall's,  I Can't Tell You Why slowly descends.

Bubbling Under this week is a new track from Peter Pearson, so stay tuned for that.

Please support all these wonder artists through iTunes, Amazon, or your favourite digital or CD retailer.

The Top Ten - week ending 04-10-2015

Hi everyone! Too excited to wait till tomorrow to post this!
Just finished listening to a couple of new albums - both are collaborations, both are excellent in their own way.
First up is Riccardo Eberspacher, along with DJ Ravin of Buddha Bar fame, he has created a wonderful blend of world, classical, chillout, and jazz for a fusion of sounds. Joining us this week at Number 9, due to my personal love of this jazz-flavoured gem, is N'oublie pas. Stay tuned for more tracks from this delightful album in the future.
The other collaboration comes to us courtesy of Lounge Masters, that venerable website of chillout and jazz originals, mashups, and remixes, collected from various artists around the world and packaged in a classy, elegant package for download.  This collaboration between Phigroa and the Francia Jazzline Orchestra, takes Phil's jazz and chillout originals and adds a full-bodied ambiance that is sure to impress. Unfortunately, I do not have a tune to add this week. Standby for that.
Cj RcM joins in the Top Ten with two of his new releases, and Snowday continues to rise as we get closer to their upcoming Canadian live dates.
Blank and Jones finally reach the top with what will become a regular iPod summer sound, Lovelee Dae.

So, if your fingers get tired from scrolling through Facebook and the web, take a break and tune in using the player in the right-hand frame.

Be sure to support all these exceptionally talented artists by purchasing their product through iTunes, Amazon, or their own websites and Bandcamp pages.

Thanks for listening

Just a quick shoutout to everyone who has tuned in to the station.

Please continue to do so, and spread the word. I do not run annoying ads like some "Better" stations, and I like to think my mix of music, (jazz, chill, some 60's lounge) is not as sleep-inducing as some chillout only (alphabet?) stations.

We're more than just jazz and more than just chill. The longer your tune us in, the longer we can stay on the air.

Note: A big hooray to the sudden surge of 67 listeners the other night at 11:30 PM Toronto time! All of you joined and signed off at the same time, which makes me wonder. Please come back and stay a little longer......you never know what will come up next.

The Top Ten - week ending 04-04-2015

Spring is upon as the warm days begin to outnumber the cool ones.
Yesterday saw the official release of the new Blank & Jones Milchbar Seaside 7 CD, of which one track has cracked the Top Ten.
Jamie Cullum has overtaken Diana Krall for the top position this week, earning a little more airtime for his chutzpah.
Canadian indie chillers, Snowday, continue to impress with The Seventh String from their digital/ vinyl release, as they jump into the 7th spot directly from Bubbling Under.
Speaking of, two new chill tracks shows a somewhat new direction for Kazakhstan artist, Cj RcM, as they join Joyce Elaine Yuille with a sneak peak at her April 15 release, Welcome To My World.

Tune in often and for as long as you can. Be aware of those free wi-fi zones to save on your home bandwidth, and always show your support through iTunes, Amazon, or your favourite digital retailer.
