The Top Ten - week ending 25 February 2017

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Hope you're work week wasn't too bad. You now have the weekend to decompress and relax. I'm so glad you took the time to spend some of it here at This is Lounge. Lots of great chilled sounds to accompany that seque into Spring.

The big news this week was the release of a track from Diana Krall's new album, Turn Up The Quiet, which gets it's official release in 10 weeks! This teaser release is a cover of Cole Porter's classic 1932 song, Night And Day. From the looks of the tracklist on the album, it's a collection of tracks from the famed "American Songbook". Tune in and enjoy her romantic rendition of this great classic.

Thievery Corporation's new song, Love Has No Heart, makes the leap into the fray at number nine this week. Meanwhile, at the other end of the list, Mirage of Deep slides into number one, with Justin Hurwitz and Pier-O trailing behind respectively.

Thanks for all the support, and your votes at www.thisislounge.com

Just a reminder, if you're a fan of the sounds of the Rat Pack-era 60's, tune in tonight at 6:00 pm EST for a sneak preview of Koop Kooper's Cocktail Nation radio show.

As Koop likes to say, stay hip!

The Top Ten - week ending 18 February 2017

Welcome to Saturday, loungers! Here we are another weekend closer to Spring.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day, and that it was as romantic as you had dreamed of. You have a whole year now to plan for next year.

New music out this week from Thievery Corporation. Titled The Temple of I & I, the Theives take a trip to the Caribbean with some reggae vibes taking up the majority of the tracks. As usual, there are a number of guest vocalists. Shana Halligan (ex-vocalist from Bitter:Sweet) adds her vox talents to a romantic tune called Love Has No Heart, and that's the one we've copped to play on This is Lounge. It begins to bubble under, gaining ground as a listener fave. Tune in ....and log in, to www.thisislounge.com and cast your vote as a fave.

Well, Pier-O has been "kicked off the throne" this week, dropping to number three. The success of La la Land continues to spread, as we see City of Stars push into the top spot this week! Lemongrassmusic artists, Mirage of Deep, slide inbetween into the second position.

Thanks for tuning in and supporting the station and the artists. It is always appreciated.

Have a great weekend! Stay chilled!

The Top Ten - week ending 11 February 2017

As we approach mid-February, it begins to hit home that Spring is six weeks away! I can feel the warm sunshine on my face already. But, as they say, the seasons are also a state of mind. Music helps feed that state, and This is Lounge knows you're hungry.

Welcome to The Top Ten, our weekly charting of New Releases in Chillout, Jazz, Ambient, and various variations of those genres. From indie to commercial, it is a mellow mix suited for a cocktail bar or a beach house. Thanks for tuning in, and thanks for checking in to the blog.

Our chart this week sees Pier-O's Beach Waves continue to hold the top position as Justin Hurwitz and Michael e trade second and third spots.  The triumvirate remains intact for another week. The new ambient chill of Romantic Fields from Mirage of Deep leapfrogs into the fourth position, as indie chill hop artist, Kant Sleep and his collaborator,  Chaotic, fall in behind at number five.

Peter Pearson empties the Bubbling Under chart as it makes the leap into the Top Ten, with Love Me Once Again.

Thanks for tuning in, whether it's three minutes or three hours, your listenership is truly appreciated. As always, head on over to www.thisislounge.com and place your vote for your fave track here. It's totally anonymous, so don't be afraid that your name and email will end up on some mailing list or something. It's kind of fun, and I look forward to seeing everyone's choices.

Have a super weekend, and be sure to find some chill time. Thanks.

The Top Ten - week ending 4 February 2017

Are you enjoying your Saturday?

Wherever you are in the world, I hope you're taking a little time to relax and chill out.....and keep warm. I'm counting the weeks till March when Spring begins to warm things up.

In the meantime, we still have Winter to deal with. Unless you are one who cherishes the cold and snow, and sports of this season, then we are all looking forward to the warmer weather.

After dinner with friends, perhaps a cozy fireplace and the sounds of This is Lounge will help pass the time.

Which brings me around to the Top Ten this week. Congrats to Pier-O, for making it to number one this week. I think it must have been those Summer thoughts of Beach Waves that inspired many of you to vote for his track. His new ranking managed to displace Michael e to number two.

The soundtrack and the film, La La Land, continues to garner raves and award nods, and the song, City of Stars, continues to climb the chart, to number three here.

This week also saw Peter Pearson upload a couple of new tracks to his Soundcloud page. Beautiful, orchestral, and total Chill! We here at This is Lounge were honoured that with his kind permission, Love Me Once Again, featuring the vocals of Sarai Usry, has been added to the playlist.

A reminder....for all of you fans of Koop Kooper's Cocktail Nation, he's back from his Winter escape with a new show. Tune in today, in a few hours, at 6:00 PM EST (Toronto) for a sneak preview.

As usual, a big thanks for all your support, and don't forget to vote! You have no worries about voting in the wrong one! Check it out at www.thisislounge.com.
