The Top Ten week ending 23 February 2019

As we slowly get closer to Spring, let's all take a minute to stop, close our eyes and visualize the warmth on our face, the scent of new flowers, the feel of a gentle breeze across our face.

OK? Now take a deep breath...... Feel better? Like an athlete visualizing a goal in a game, you too can visualize something positive, like feeling of Spring. Perhaps that will help you through the next few weeks leading up to March 20th.

Listening to This is Lounge will also help you through those weeks. As word of mouth is spreading, and the station is added to more and more directories, it is becoming more available to those who are seeking it out.

On to the Top Ten, many of you will be very pleased to see Sambox hit the number one spot this week. Please send him a notification that you heard it here. he loves hearing from his fans, as do I.

Followed closely behind is The Warheads, and Jazz City. A wonderful triumvirate of tunes this week, thanks to everyone who voted. (NOTE: You, too, can vote at www.thisislounge.com.)

We have a new entry this week, graduating from Bubbling Under status - Tom Holmes' beautiful piano brings us Evening Jazz 2. I'm sure that you will enjoy it as much as we do here,

Thanks for surfing here. Thanks for listening. Most important, thanks for supporting the station and our artists. You really do keep the music alive! Until next Saturday....

The Top Ten - week ending 16 February 2019

Happy Saturday, my fellow loungers! I hope you all enjoyed Valentine's Day, or perhaps you are STILL enjoying it, right through the weekend!!!!

And, of course, you have the best music streaming for such a romantic occasion. We don't have to program a special Valentine's playlist - it's romantic all the time!

And who better to top the chart this week, than the ex-Mrs. Johnny Depp - Vanessa Paradis. The number two position follows with another Frenchman - Sambox, followed by the cool sounds of The Warheads and Love Potion #5

Flughand moves up to fourth, followed by Paul Blackford and Wane of Summer. Jumping into the fray this week is renowned chillout DJ, Michael Maretimo, and his Smooth Breeze Cut of Bossa en el Barco.

Thanks for listening, everyone. A big shoutout to fans in Germany. You are my biggest country of listeners! Spread the word! Verbreite das Wort! So nice to know that there are regular listeners that may not even know the language! Then again, music is universal.

Hope you can extend your Valentine sentiments throughout the year. As the song goes, all you need is love.

Stay chilled.

The Top Ten - week ending 9 February 2019

Welcome back! How was your week?

The weather has been wreaking havoc in my little corner of the world. From freezing rain and ice pellets to a record-breaking, Spring-like 12C ! Crazy!

All the more reason to stay inside and chill, and we have some great new music happening her at This is Lounge. Congrats to The Warheads, as their song Love Potion #5 comes in at number one this week. Always a favourite around here, The Warheads consistently release so many quality chilled tracks, it is often hard to keep up. So much creativity, so little time!

Coming into number two, French pop singer Vanessa Paradis' "Bond-inspired" On Oubliera, taken from her latest release, Les Source. Not your usual TIL artist, but the Bond feel won us over. I hope you're enjoying it. It seems so, since it is moving up the chart rather quickly!

Another French artist, Sambox, (who is another favourite around here) has his track Solar Wind coming in at number three.

I'm excited to bring a new discovery to the chart. Wane of Summer (aka Dutch musician Sander Heerings) has been releasing some beautiful ambient and chilled pieces on his Soundcloud page. Here for You is just one of the many new releases to take note of. Please check him out and see hear for yourself.

Thanks for tuning in. Your support is always welcome, as is the support for the artists played here.

Enjoy your weekend. If you are reading this early enough, be sure to tune into Koop Kooper's Cocktail Nation sneak preview at 6 pm Toronto time..... and the Sunday morning Hangover Show from 5:00 am to 1 pm for 8 hours of chillout bliss.

Thanks again, and don't forget to....

Stay chilled.

Koop is still on holidays at the moment so here's another of his Cocktail Nation Twilight shows.

This weeks show came about in funny way. So this week an all-TV theme show from the Fifties, Sixties, and Seventies. Plus, I have an interview with two of the most prolific theme composers.

Lalo Schifrin - Mission Impossible Theme

The Top Ten - week ending 2 February 2019

The weekend is finally here!

Welcome back, my fellow loungers! Despite the polar vortex that enveloped Toronto earlier in the week, along with record snowfalls came record low temperatures. Brrr.... Seven more weeks till Spring!? I'm counting the days!

But the benefit of hibernating, say by a fireplace, or at least somewhere warm and cozy, is that you will always have music to warm you up. Nothing like some chill to take away the chill....if you know what I mean.

Paul Blackford remains atop the chart this week, with The Warheads and Vanessa Paradis following close behind. New to the chart last week, chillhop artist Flughand bumps up a couple of positions, and Jazz City's Hold Me Back has been capturing a few ears around here, helping it make the leap from Bubbling Under.

Speaking of Bubbling Under, we have some wonderful new tracks from DJ Michael Maretimo, and Soundcloud discoveries Wane of Summer and Tom Holmes. I hope you are enjoying them.

Thanks again for the support. Your word-of-mouth has been helping the listenership grow. Keep up the good work.

Don't forget to tune in tomorrow for The Hangover Show - a morning of chillout to ease you into the day, it airs from 5 am to 1 pm Toronto time.

As always,

Stay chilled.
