The Top Ten - week ending 25 March 2017

Welcome to the weekend! Welcome to Spring!

Yes, we have officially reached Spring. Hopefully the warmer weather has reached you. It's up and down here - cold one day, mild the next! It's fighting to break through.

With Spring comes a renewed state of mind, a wellbeing that lifts your spirits and makes everything right in the world. It's also a time for love, new love perhaps, and to accomapny that romance, there is Lounge....This is Lounge.

Our new number one thios week, speaks of love.  Thievery Corporation says Love Has No Heart, but I beg to differ. Peter Pearson reaches out to someone to Love Me Once Again. Mirage of Deep has us in Romantic Fields, while listening to Pier-O's Love Jazz.

A great week for new music as Riccardo Eberspacher jumps onto the chart at number ten this week with his Argentinian inspired Luna Calante.

What better song to bring on the new seasons, but a release from the new Blank & Jones Milchbar collection, called My Island

Thanks to all of you supporting the station and the artists. Thanks for spreading the word. Your love keeps us alive.

Have a great weekend! Stay cool!

The Top Ten - week ending 18 March 2017

Greetings, my fellow loungers, and welcome to Saturday!

While some of you continue to battle the last vestiges of the Winter season, in the form of snow and cold weather, others of you are taking advantage of some vacation time closer to the Equator. We are at an almost unpredictable time of year when it concerns the weather. With the official arrival of Spring happening next week, anticipation is high for all of us in the Northern Hemisphere to be able to shed those scarves and heavy coats for something lighter.

Allow me to cop the flip side to the Game of Thrones mantra - "Spring is coming".

With the arrival of Spring comes some great new music releases. congratulations on the birth of their new works go out to Riccardo Eberspacher, Phigroa, and Blank & Jones, amongst others.

Blank & Jones released one teaser track the other day from their upcoming Milchbar compilation, just in time for Spring, and we here at This is Lounge have become enchanted with the Argentinian tango of Riccardo Eberspacher's Luna Calante, taken from his new Just A Little release - a collection of collaborations, including one with Italian singer/songwriter, In-Grid.

This week, Phigroa's Distant Voices makes the leap into the chart and landing at number eight. Taken from his Easy Does It ep, where there's not one filler track, it's an excellent release at an excellent price.

Congrats to Mirage of Deep, as they move into the number one position with their beautiful chilled sounds. Thievery Corporation continue to raise the bar on their artistry, and their collaboration with ex-Bitter:Sweet vocalist, Shana Halligan, is no exception. They move into number two. Also, be on the lookout for the Thieves coming to a town near you. They are currently on tour.

To complete the trifecta of the top three, the classic chill of Mr. Peter Pearson, who has a collaboration of his own, with vocalist Sarai Usry, continues to rise to the top. Love Me Once Again continues to tug at our heart strings.

Speaking of heart strings, I would be remiss not to mention the lounge sounds of jazz vocalist Sarah McKenzie, Her Don't Be A Fool makes a hasty leap this week into the ninth position on the chart.

As always, thank you for your support of the artists and the station. I encourage you to continue your support by tuning in, and purchasing their music through any of the major download stores or directly through a Bandcamp page. None of us would be here without their music. Let's keep the creativity coming!

Enjoy your weekend! Don't forget the Hangover Show, tomorrow morning from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST. Take note, we in Toronto are now on Daylight Savings Time. Six hours of complete chillout.

Stay cool.

The Top Ten - week ending 4 March 2017

Happy Saturday! Spring is mere weeks away! The deep freeze that we have been experiencing will soon be a distant memory.

Nature knows no boundaries when it comes to music, so I hope the summer sounds of This is Lounge has taken you on that journey to the sun. The artists have been helping us cope with the cold with with lots of great new music over the last couple of months - Mirage of Deep, Cantoma, Michael e, Peter Pearson, and Diana Krall and Eliane Elias to name but a few. Your support of their music is truly appreciated. It's an honour promoting their sounds on This is Lounge.

Most of those artists remain in the Top Ten, not only through the support of those of us here at the station, but also from your votes at www.thisislounge.com. Bringing the audience a little closer makes the world feel just a little bit smaller.

Mirage of Deep continues to rule the roost at number one with their beautiful Romantic Fields. Pier-O's Love Jazz comes in a number two, and Peter Pearson's Love Me Once Again slides up to the third position.

New music from Thievery Corporation, Diana Krall, and Eliane Elias infiltrate the chart with electronic, jazz, and Latin sounds, creating a diverse collection for your listening pleasure. Eliane's Dance of Time is released March 24, but we have the first teaser track, Copacabana.

Two new artists to the This is Lounge stable, going by the names of Sunnybeatz Production out of Hong Kong, and Sarah McKenzie, from Australia, bring us some new chillout and vocal jazz to the station from the other side of the world, as their sounds are Bubbling Under.

As always, thank you for tuning in! FYI, it seems our biggest audience is in Germany, Canada, the U.S., France, and Italy. Your listenership is truly appreciated.

And now to the chart....
