The Top Ten - week ending 30 May 2015

As we kiss the last few days of May away, we come to the last Top Ten of the month.

Some great new music popped into the charts last week with the Francia Jazzline Orchestra & Phigroa, and a track from their new collaboration called Eve. A big shout out to Phil Phigeroa for an awesome job well done. It should be spinning here for a few more weeks to come.
Riccardo, sad to say, has lost his number one position to "the Queen" of jazz, Ms. Diana Krall. Her heartfelt rendering of the classic 10CC hit is a well-deserved chart topper.
My friend, Peter Pearson, sneaks up the chart to grab the number three position. A very underrated artist - please support him.
I must also refer to the Bubbling Under this week; a ballad taken from the new Mario Biondi release entitled, Beyond, called All I Want Is You.  (The title appears to be a reference to Mario's last name.)

As always, please support these artists by purchasing directly from iTunes, Juno, Amazon, or even the artist's own website< I make ut real easy for you all with direct links from the song titles.

Thanks for listening!

Cocktail Nation 358 Robert Drasnin RIP

A change of plans for this week's show. Originally we intended to bring you a comedy special, but late last week news came through of the passing of Robert Drasnin, the movie and TV music composer, and of course the man behind Voodoo and Voodoo 2 exotica albums.
His good friend, and friend of Tiki, author Jeff Chenault will stop by to talk about his friend.
Also on the show we talk about the difficulties in living a vintage life today and some suggestions as to how to get or maintain that authenticity.

Barry Adamson - The Big Bamboozle
Satin Chaps - Hard Drivin
Robert Drasnin - Kahula Mist
Jackie Gleason - My Devotion
Jimmy Psycho - Moondance
Perry Beekman - I Wish I Was In Love Again
Mancini - A Shot In The Dark
Beegie Adair -Witchcraft
Gene Rains - Mapuana
Ken Greves - I Wished on the Moon
Rodger Davidson Trio - Celia
Stolen Idols - Sao Paulo 64

The Top Ten - week ending 22 May 2015

Another sunny summer-type day in Toronto! Time for working on the garden sprucing up the environment.....and what better way to make it all go smoothly, then listening to This is Lounge while you work!

Riccardo remains king of the hill as N'Oublie Pas remains in number one position. Diana Krall's Wallflower album continues to get more airplay as her 10CC cover leaps the the number two position.

Fanfare, please!!! The Francia Jazzline Orchestra & Phigroa have joined up to assemble a superb album of music. Highly recommend adding this one to your collection. As usual, the link below will take you to iTunes. I'm sure we'll be spinning more tracks as the weeks and months go on.

Please support these, and other This is Lounge artists, by purchasing through your favourite online dealers.

The Cocktail Nation 357 - Retro Essence

Omigosh, I have been so negligent in passing along Koop's show! Koop, if you're reading this, my apologies.

It was a long weekend here in Canada, this past weekend, and the weather was perfect. Naturally, being at a computer was the last thing I wanted to do.

But, i managed to get the new Top Ten done and up, so here's Koop's Saturday show.

It's so great to hear of people in the retro and vintage scenes really making massive strides to promote and encourage. So, tonight we talk to a lady who has put together a very cool website that not only talks about vintage but seeks to help people promote and expand. Also on the show, our World of Swank gig guide, plus some cool mixology apps.

The Top Ten - week ending 16 May 2015

This weekend there's a slight chill in the air as we continue to transition towards Summer. There's a slight chill in cyberspace, as This is Lounge continues to gain listeners from around the world. A big shoutout to Guido's Lounge Cafe and his Facebook group, as I'm sure a lot of new listeners are coming from there. Also, I should mention the Midnight Lounge Facebook group that helps spread the gospel of chill as well.

Anyway, to the chart.....Snowday finally relinquished top spot to Riccardo Eberspacher. Gone, but not forgotten. Cj RcM's Menorca, one of two tracks on the chart, has jumped ahead of his sister track to jump into the Number Two position.

As we see Jamie Cullum teeter on the edge of the Top Ten, everyone else has moved up a place or two. It's nice to see Joyce Elaine Yuille move up the listing so quickly.

Anyway, enjoy the music, and be sure to support these artists. Use the convenient links that should take you where more purchase information can be found.

The Top Ten - week ending 9 May 2015

Apologies tao all expecting to see this up yesterday. The weather here has suddenly taken a turn for the best, and we are experiencing a two day heatwave, with temperatures around 30C, including the humidity factor. So the choice between sitting inside at a computer or out enjoying the weather, was not a hard one to make.

So to get back out there and enjoy it, I will be brief.
Snowy remains at the the top this week. And Eliana Elias officially steps in to the list after a spot is vacated by Blank and Jones. They will will be sadly missed. But we shall continue to enjoy their music daily.
So, here we are, folks. Enjoy.

Sorry, there are no Bubbling Under tracks this week.  I've been too busy to bring on some new New Releases. I'm sure that there are lots out there, and I shall have something before next week.

The Top Ten - week ending 2 May 2015

They say that timing is everything. Well, this couldn't have been timed better.
Snowday's track, The Seventh String has been working it's way up the chart for the past weeks. I am proud to announce that coinciding with their Toronto concert, the song has reached Number One.
Congrats, Snowday! The show was a wonderful experience.
This week reflects only a few changes. Jonathan Fritzen moves up, and Peter Pearson rejoins the list with his track, The Way You Are

Eliane Elias - Vocé
