The Top Ten - week ending 30 July 2016

Thanks for checking in, my fellow loungers!

Hope the weekend is off to a glorious start wherever you are in the world. I have the luxury of a long weekend here in Toronto. But there is no time to rest. Lots to do, and still enjoy the weather.

A reminder...please check in to More Than Just Lounge, our Saturday night block of programming where it's more than just.... well, lounge! It's lounge with a beat, and special tracks suited just for Saturday night. Kicking off at 18.:00 ET here in Toronto with Koop Kooper's Cocktail Nation Sneak Preview, the sounds continue to 5:00 AM, when The Hangover Show brings you back down with all-chill till 13:00 ET.

Well, take a look at this week! Luederwaldt has been relieved of his position at the top to make room for Cantoma! Papik has made a bit of a jump - I think you all just discovered Fujiko's Theme

A big shoutout to fans of Eileezus, who have helped push her into The Top Ten this week. A well deserved jump, if I do says so myself.

Someone who is always welcome here at This is Lounge is Peter Pearson, and this recent release is no disappointment. Tune in to hear In Love With You, throughout the day and night.

Again, thank you, as always, for supporting the station and the artists. It is most certainly appreciated.

The Top Ten - week ending 23 July 2016

Welcome back to this week's Top Ten!

With Summer in full bloom around most of the world, all my fellow loungers are enjoying their favourite time of the year. Vacations, perfect for lounging, have left offices and places of business temporaily short-staffed while sunseekers hit the beaches.

Of course, it goes without saying, that the perfect soundtrack to the summer is the sounds of chillout and jazz, and what better place than here at This is Lounge to hear that.

The Top Ten this week is chockful of Summer sounds from artists like Giacomo Bondi, Lemongrass, Cantoma, and Afterlife

To top things off, we have a new Number One this week, as Luederwaldt, through the power of your votes at www.thisislounge.com, has shot up the chart! Congratulations!

This week, we see the previous leader, Giacomo Bondi, slip into Number Two, and Cantoma's Just Landed come into Number Three.

This week, I believe,  also marks the first time that there are not one, but two artists with two songs in the chart at the same time! Cantoma and Emapea, have impressed everyone here that we felt them deserving of both of their tracks being charted at the same time. I hope you will agree.

Bubbling Under this week, we have a new addition - Canadian jazz trio Myriad3, and a track from their latest release, Moons. For more information on Myriad3, or any other artist we play, please check out the Artists listing on our website.

Thanks for tuning in and making us a part of your Summer. You already know that you'll never find a playlist like ours on Spotify! Thanks for making us the alternative.

Again, please be sure to vote for your favourite Top Ten track. Your votes fuel this, and we love listener input. As always, thanks for supporting these artists through iTunes, Amazon, or you favourite legal digital retailer.

The Top Ten - week ending 16 July 2016

Once again, another seven days have passed, bringing us another couple of days to forget about work and give your mind and body a chance to recover from the grind. Yes, it's the weekend!

If you're not lucky enough to be able to listen to This Is Lounge while you work, then now's the time to relish that freedom and tune in at home, or wherever the wi-fi can be found.

These "lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer" are evident in the results of our Top Ten. This week, Giacomo Bondi and Lemongrass retain their top two positions. Two wonderfully laid back sunny day songs, followed by the fast rising Namida from Luederwaldt - A blockbuster trifecta of tunes!

For the first time in a long while, no one has left the chart and no one has joined it. Although, the chilled out jazz stylings of The Warheads have made it to the Bubbling Under list with a new track, Summer Samba.  If you were expecting a cover of that famous Brazilian tune, think again, and tune in to hear it for yourself. It's a lazy samba that only The Warheads could create.

Enjoy the Summer. Enjoy the music. Thanks for support the artists and the station. Be sure to cast your vote at www.thisislounge.com

1. Giacomo Bondi - Sun King (Rmx acapella)
2. Lemongrass - Something True (feat. Jane Maximova)

6. Emapea - Jazzy
7. The Warheads - Blue Venus
8. Birth of the Fool - Cuba Libre
9. Afterlife - Tonto
10. SAMBOX - Guest Star (Smoking Mix)

Bubbling Under

Cantoma - Sea of Blue
Emapea - Baby Mind
Eileezus - Cruise
The Warheads - Summer Samba

This week, we travel in a time machine back to 1956 and check out a very cool club that has a couple of star performers playing…Julie London and Bobby Troup. The Top Ten - week ending 9 July 2016

Happy Saturday, my fellow loungers!

It's nice when the week goes by so quickly. Some of you may have enjoyed a long weekend, which just adds pleasure to the Summer months.

...and what better song to hit the top of the chart this week than Giacomo Bondi's remix on The Beatles' classic, Sun King! A perfect song to listen to in the hot Summer sunshine! Great news for fans of the new Lemongrass track, Something True. They've slipped into the number two position.

The biggest gain this week, though, has to be newcomer Torsten Luederwaldt. Namida is a beautiful track that garnered a lot of votes at www.thisislounge.com and amongst the staff here. Be sure to check out his Soundcloud page to hear more.

Last week also saw the long-awaited release of the new Afterlife album. Fans have been anxiously awaiting this for many years, and they are not disappointed.  Enjoy Tonto, as it jumps to the chart in the tenth position.

Joining our Bubbling Unders this week is Eileezus, a wonderful singer stradling the fence between hip hop and chill.  Cruise, taken from her Good Feelings collection, is available on her Soundcloud page - and it's a free download! A welcome discovery, I urge you to check out her other work if you like your chill with a taste of hip hop.

As always, PLEASE support these artists. Use the links below to access their sites or iTunes.

The Top Ten - week ending 2 July 2016

Happy Saturday, fellow loungers! I'm going to make this short, as the Euro 2016 games have been drawing me away from the computer.

Congratulations to Afterlife on the release of the new album, Ten Thousand Things. A wonderful album, it was very hard to choose one song to play, but Bubbling Under is Tonto. So tune in and enjoy. I'm sure that we'll be playing more of this album in the future.

As you can see, The Warheads have jumped into the number one spot, with Giacomo Bondi trailing behind at number two, and  SAMBOX still hanging in the top three.

Nice to see newcomer, Emapea, make some headway, as well at Papik. Birth of the Fool make the leap up from Bubbling Under, thanks to your votes and the votes here at the station.

Don't forget, head over to www.thisilounge.com and cast your vote for your fave new track.

As always, thank you so much for your support of the station and it's artists.
