The Top Ten - week ending 28 October 2017

The chill is in the air!

The chill is on the airwaves!

Welcome to the This is Lounge Top Ten!

As the temperature drops, and the clouds roll in, it's nice to be able to escape to that beach house in your mind, that "happy place" where stress is non-existent, and life is good. And in that beach house in your mind, the gentle waves crashing on the shore segue into the smooth sounds of a Fender Rhodes piano, or a gentle drum beat. When that happens, you know that your in the zone - that moment of pleasure and bliss.

You're tuned into This is Lounge.

Now that you're in the right frame of mind, let's look at what's dominating the playlist this week.....

With the surprising change in the weather comes a surprising change in the chart. Polished Chrome has made a leap into number one this week, bumping Christopher Goze into the second spot. Chillhop artist, .anxious., follows up in third. A wonderful triumvirate, if I do say so.

This week also sees the sounds of chillout artist Citrus Jam make the jump from Bubbling Under. The battle for that empty number ten spot was very close, with a new track from Kant Sleep and jazz singer Jordana Talsky's cover of the Alanis Morrisette classic coming very close to bumping Citrus Jam.

This week saw the release of some major new music, and we've got it. From the new release from Stacey Kent, we have her smooth cover of the A.C. Jobim classic, Photograph, a jazzhop track with a slightly bossa feel to it from lofi/chillhop artist Hylla, and finally, (we here took our time deciding which track to play) from the new Naoki Kenji album, Akatombo, and settled on the gentle sound of Floating Minds. And don't forget, Phigroa continues to grow in rotation with his new track, Headed Home.

So lots and lots of new music as we see the Summer fade into the chill of Autumn. And more news this week saw the announcement of a new album from Michael e about to drop. So we are in high anticipation of that.

Thanks for checking in, and tuning in. Thanks for supporting the station and the artists. You're keeping the music alive.

Also, let me just mention, tune in tonight for Koop Kooper's Cocktail Nation Sneak Preview at 18:00h Toronto time to start off the fun Saturday night programming. Eclectic and full of surprises, it's always a good listen.

Time to relax a little. Enjoy your weekend!

Stay chilled.
