The Top Ten - week ending 18 March 2017

Greetings, my fellow loungers, and welcome to Saturday!

While some of you continue to battle the last vestiges of the Winter season, in the form of snow and cold weather, others of you are taking advantage of some vacation time closer to the Equator. We are at an almost unpredictable time of year when it concerns the weather. With the official arrival of Spring happening next week, anticipation is high for all of us in the Northern Hemisphere to be able to shed those scarves and heavy coats for something lighter.

Allow me to cop the flip side to the Game of Thrones mantra - "Spring is coming".

With the arrival of Spring comes some great new music releases. congratulations on the birth of their new works go out to Riccardo Eberspacher, Phigroa, and Blank & Jones, amongst others.

Blank & Jones released one teaser track the other day from their upcoming Milchbar compilation, just in time for Spring, and we here at This is Lounge have become enchanted with the Argentinian tango of Riccardo Eberspacher's Luna Calante, taken from his new Just A Little release - a collection of collaborations, including one with Italian singer/songwriter, In-Grid.

This week, Phigroa's Distant Voices makes the leap into the chart and landing at number eight. Taken from his Easy Does It ep, where there's not one filler track, it's an excellent release at an excellent price.

Congrats to Mirage of Deep, as they move into the number one position with their beautiful chilled sounds. Thievery Corporation continue to raise the bar on their artistry, and their collaboration with ex-Bitter:Sweet vocalist, Shana Halligan, is no exception. They move into number two. Also, be on the lookout for the Thieves coming to a town near you. They are currently on tour.

To complete the trifecta of the top three, the classic chill of Mr. Peter Pearson, who has a collaboration of his own, with vocalist Sarai Usry, continues to rise to the top. Love Me Once Again continues to tug at our heart strings.

Speaking of heart strings, I would be remiss not to mention the lounge sounds of jazz vocalist Sarah McKenzie, Her Don't Be A Fool makes a hasty leap this week into the ninth position on the chart.

As always, thank you for your support of the artists and the station. I encourage you to continue your support by tuning in, and purchasing their music through any of the major download stores or directly through a Bandcamp page. None of us would be here without their music. Let's keep the creativity coming!

Enjoy your weekend! Don't forget the Hangover Show, tomorrow morning from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST. Take note, we in Toronto are now on Daylight Savings Time. Six hours of complete chillout.

Stay cool.
